| About Us |
Welcome to Troop 127's website. We are a Lake Oswego based Troop in the Pioneer District of the Cascade Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Troop 127 is sponsored by Hallinan School PTA. The Troop charter was originally issued in 1927, which makes this Troop one of the few in Scouting with 75 contiguous years of service to scouts by 2002. We meet in Waluga Junior High School in Lake Oswego, Oregon on Mondays from 7:30 to 8:45 pm. Troop meetings are suspended during the summer and in December when the Christmas Tree Lot is in operation. To contact us call Robert Magill at (503) 699 9554. Each year the Troop carries out some activities which have become Troop Traditions. Parents and scouts go to Hood Canal, Washington for one weekend in summer to camp, shuck oysters, cook, swim, fish, and enjoy one another's company. For qualified older scouts (scouts with a great deal of outdoor experience), the High Adventure program offers a week-long 50 mile wilderness backpack, usually in August. Every other year the troop adds a 3 day whitewater trip as well. The annual Junior Adventure backpack and river run is organized especially for newer scouts and their parents. Our yearly Family Campout provides a great opportunity for all parents and scouts to share a weekend in the outdoors. There is an annual ski weekend for Venture Scouts at Phlox Lodge on Mt. Hood. Camporee is an annual weekend campout involving all the troops in the Pioneer District. Camporee provides an opportunity for scout craft competitions, as well as a chance to camp with other scouts throughout our District. As a fund-raising project each year, the Troop operates a Christmas Tree lot at George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego, run by Scouts and parents. This project is usually all that is required to fund all Troop activities during the year. Troop 127 has maintained its service to scouts over the years by means of:
